Dr Lara Monaghan completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds a Diploma in Child Health from the Children’s hospital at Westmead/University of Sydney. She has further training in family planning and is accredited in insertion and removal of contraceptive implants (Implanon) and hormonal IUDs.
Lara is passionate about women’s health. She recognises the challenges in being heard as a woman in our healthcare system and hopes to work with women to enhance their wellbeing at all ages. Since having her own children, her interest in perinatal health especially mental health has deepened. This led to her completing further training to become a Possums & Co Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) accredited practitioner.
Lara is a supervisor of GP registrars and has experience teaching medical students through Macquarie University. She is a member of the GP Advisory Group at Gidget Foundation Australia.
Lara is a mum to 2 young children. Outside of work, she can be found fitting in a pilates class wherever possible.
